Higher Heights is the political home for Black women’s political leadership.  Our work is harnessing the collective organizing power of Black women from the voting booth to elected office.  Black women continue to play a pivotal role in America’s democracy; the current moment provides an opportunity to build on Higher Heights' impact to influence elections, elect Black women and advance policies.

Higher Heights is embarking on an ambitious strategy to build the organization's base of support and elevate Black women’s voices to shape and advance progressive policies and politics through innovative programming.

The Program Intern (Events) will support our internal and external events, as well as efforts to ensure that projects and initiatives are in full alignment with Higher Heights’ vision, mission, and goals.

Duties include, but are not limited, to the following:

  • Assist in ensuring proactive planning and scheduling of a wide variety of events including annual events, meet and greets, networking events, and membership meetings (both virtually and in-person)
  • Assist full-time staff with day-to-day operations and event planning.
  • Assist with speaker outreach to collect bios, course materials, etc.
  • Develop a plan for pre, onsite, and post-event (virtual and in-person)
  • Help develop a timeline for events
  • Strategize unique activities for the event

This paid internship is appropriate for academic credit. The ideal candidate is seeking opportunities to apply their skills to work experience. Preferred majors include Communications, Marketing, Nonprofit Management, Political Science, and Women’s Studies.

The position requires a candidate to be highly collaborative, to function with a high level of autonomy, and to work on multiple projects at once as well as time-sensitive deadlines.

This internship is remote.
